How fun...we had never been on the base - Fort Huachuca. Now we have not only been on the base we have run a windy, hilly and beautiful course on an Army base known for its communications school and its "Buffalo Solider" history.
An intimate race with less than 90 runners. This race is a deal with a t-shirt , medal and the honor to run with active duty soldiers. By supporting this race it allows active duty solidiers to run for free.
We stayed the night in Sierra Vista at a Rodeway Inn on Friday night. Most likely where family of service peole might stay it was reasonable nightly rate and had a full kitchenette with all the amenities. All except they don't do wake up calls...HA! Only 3 miles from the start of the race it was convienent and comfortable.
With ten year age groups we were still able to place. We understand there will be photos from the race at the 11th Signal Brigade - Face book page. Check them out.

Next is to figure out how to hang jewelry. I purchased 4 painted metal hooks, and several 3 inch screws with matching nuts and washers local hardware store. Once I have figured out whether I will paint or not I will paint all screws , bolts and washers along with frame and metal with cream spray paint.
My last pieces of jewelry to hang are my stud earrings. I have many sets of earrings with posts. Maybe a swath of material, or a card. Possible mount a cup. STAY TUNED!!
Jewelry Holder Project - Trying it out
As my friend Anita suggested I mounted my organizer in my closet to live with it for a few days. IE...in a few days I may want to change the color. I have jewelry mounting hardware that I will paint the same time I paint frame with metal in it. ( I have a can of spray paint in a cream color).
Jewelry Holder Project
Next step adhere expanded metal to frame.
A very good friend (Jim) used Liquid Nails to hold metal to frame. After much alignment of metal onto back of frame(metal is bowed) and frame has high spots on corners and middles.
Once he applied to frame and put metal into glue and seated it with a putty knife he also applied more glue to the top and smoothed it out. He then tapped in penny nails into frame and bent over metal to secure the metal to frame. When I took this picture I had pulled nails out of frames. VERY important to use pliers vs hammer as frame may have been damaged.
I returned home and kept in the garage for several days upide down with eweight on metal to flatten and secure glue to metal and frame.
Yet another good friend (Anita) suggested I mount at home before painting in the closet I plan to hang it in.

DIY Jewelry Holder
I have many pieces of costume jewelry and a drawer that I store them in which I am unable to open. For many reasons I would like an organizer that hangs and has all my jewelry hanging at eye level.
After watching + videos the light went on. I wanted a framed organizer.
I went to our local recycle store and bought a 13 x 15 frame for $1.00. Later I researched what to put in t he frame and agreed I would like a screening or metal insert. Screening may not hold up and I may not beable to get it tight enough. Ta Dah! I choose expanded metal as the insert material.
It is expensive and you buy it in a big sheet at hardware store. I decided to visit a local iron works store to see if they had scrap. They did, they cut it sanded it in just a half an hour and I was on my way.

Prescott Arizona's Christmas City
Bill and I spent two days in Prescott, AZ
(12-22-23rd) We stayed in Hotel St. Michael's. Located on the corner of Gurley and Monteczuma Streets which overlooks the City Square. The square houses multiple trees, statues, the courthouse and a gazebo. The Christmas light show on the square was quite elaborate. Most of the trees were lit and one actually blinked to Christmas music.
We took in the many sites ie..museums and yes the annual Gingerbread Village. Held in the Prescott Resort claiming to be the largest Gingerbread village in the world with over 100 houses. Built by local organizations the gingerbread houses are judged in several categories . While you are there, check out the rear patio and the breathtaking view of Prescott and Thumb Butte.
We ate in several resetaurants, the one we highly recommend gives you a great view of the lights on the square, good food, and service: Prescott Brewing Company. Though we did not go the lights in Prescott Valley were also billed as part of the Christmas offering.
